Linux Mint and Fedora are both pretty awesome distros, theres some other good ones out there but I love those 2
Fedora always has the latest features and sometimes suffers in stability, this time round I have found Fedora 12 to be really stable and Ubuntu 9.10 to be the unstable one. I am currently enjoying the fedora Lxde version.
