A short film I made in my fourth year of architecture studies, with the intention to communicate the idea that my hotel designed to support, in a word that people remain in place should respect the place their visit and experience, and that the concept of travel is part of a gradual transition from one environment to another. The design has therefore proposed a series of 2-4 small items room arranged around a variety of sites, each independent and reflect their environment in their design, and enjoying the diversity of situations, rather than landing a monolithic structure on a site, something I felt was appropriate or even an advantage to this site or the program in a hotel. I am inspired by the existing infrastructure of the Valley power stations flood shelters, for example. A wonderful trip with good friends, and an interesting project to work. I hope someone out there enjoys watching it. Finally, the music – I thought the beautiful ethereal and hypnotic work of Cliff Martinez (who has created soundtracks for films like Traffic and Solaris) was perfect for communicating those ideas, combining the melancholy harmonies and changes of pace and sublte pace. Hopefully it works.
